Every daughter in Kashmir carries a dream in her heart. Some want to build their identity through education, some want to show their talent on the sports field, while others dream of bringing pride to their family and society. What they need is the courage to turn these dreams into reality and the opportunity to move towards their goals. When a daughter moves forward, her family, her village and the whole society move forward with her.
Ulfat Mushtaq from Baramulla is a beautiful example of this courage and determination. At the ASMITA Khelo India Women’s Cycling League, held in Jammu, Ulfat won two gold medals and showed her hard work and talent. Her achievement is an encouraging message for all the daughters of Kashmir who are working to turn their dreams into reality.
The two-day women’s cycling league was held on 26 and 27 September 2026 at Jammu. More than 300 women cyclists took part in the event. The competition was organised under the Cycling Federation of India with the support of the Cycling Association of J&K. Women cyclists from different places showed their hard work, speed and sporting spirit in various events.
Baramulla’s Ulfat Mushtaq won the gold medal in the Senior Women’s Individual Time Trial on the first day of the competition. It was a major achievement for her, but her journey did not end there. On the next day, Ulfat once again performed very well in the Senior Women’s Mass Start event and won another gold medal. In this way, she won two gold medals in the competition and turned her hard work into a memorable achievement.
Ulfat’s achievement is not limited to winning two gold medals. Behind this success is a spirit that can inspire every young person who dreams of reaching a goal. The journey in sports is not always easy. It requires regular practice, discipline, patience and belief in one’s goal. Sometimes there is victory and sometimes there is defeat, but a true sportsperson is the one who learns from every experience and keeps moving forward.
Ulfat’s success is especially inspiring for the daughters of Kashmir. It shows that daughters are not limited to any one field. If they get opportunities and continue to improve their talent, they can also make their mark in the world of sports. Her success can give other girls the confidence that dreaming big and working hard to achieve those dreams is absolutely possible.
The growing interest of young people in sports in Kashmir presents a positive picture. Sports are not only a way to win medals but also a way to learn the importance of discipline, confidence, patience and hard work in life. The lessons learned on the field can also help young people in many other areas of life.
Ulfat Mushtaq’s double gold-medal achievement is a moment of happiness for Kashmir and the whole of India. Her achievement carries a bright message for all those daughters who have a dream in their hearts. They only need to believe in their talent, keep working hard and continue moving towards their goal.
There is no shortage of talent in the beautiful valleys of Kashmir. What is needed is to recognise that talent, guide it in the right direction and provide opportunities to move forward. Ulfat Mushtaq has shown through her hard work that when courage is strong, it is not only the bicycle that moves faster—The dreams of a daughter also gain speed as she moves forward with determination.
