
Dr. Urfana Amin, a teacher from Kashmir, has been honored with the prestigious National Teacher’s Award by the President of India, on the occasion Teacher’s Day in New Delhi. Urfana received the National Teachers’ Award in recognition of her work on the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) module, the creation of e-content for the DIKHSA portal, and her efforts in adult literacy. Her dedication and innovative teaching have set a high standard in this field. Her achievement not only highlights her personal excellence but also brings recognition to the educational advancements in Kashmir.
The award winner, Urfana, a resident of Bhagat-e-Shoor Lal Bazaar, is presently posted as a master grade teacher at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Soura. She started her teaching career from 2002 as a General Line Teacher in the state. Her long experience in teaching field aided her to think more innovatively in education system. She showed exceptional and outstanding acts for supporting special children education system through Children with Special Needs (CWSN) for a long period inside the state.
She also marked her talent and contribution in early childcare and education in Kashmir as a national resource person. She is an expert in braille script and she implemented her findings in education for special children who needed support from the society. She reflected her dedication in participating in various educational supporting teams like All Jammu and Kashmir Modern Educational Recourses (AJMER) actively. She has set a new standard for excellence in education in Kashmir. Her passion, creativity, and commitment have had a profound impact on students and the educational community. These all brought pride to Jammu & Kashmir and a well-deserved award with ultimate personal pride.
National Teachers Award is highest honour for the persons in education field. Dr.Urfana Amin is the one among of 82 persons across the country who received this prestigious award. National Teachers’ Award is granted to teachers and educationists for their noteworthy contribution in the field of education and to respect them for their dedication and hard work for enhance educational standards and significantly uplift the lives of their students. This inventive educator created a curriculum for Jammu and Kashmir during the 2007-2008 academic year, which was adopted by the State Institute of Education (SIE).
In addition, she earned the Global Education Teacher Award in 2020 and 2021, and was recognized for her innovative contributions. She was honoured with a gold medal in 2022 for her excellence in teaching science at the primary level. This award includes a Certificate of Merit and a Silver Medal along with Rs 50000 cash prize, which was presented to Dr.Urfana Amin by The President of India on National Teachers Day. By recognizing this teacher’s exceptional contribution, this achievement brings to light the ongoing progress in Kashmir’s education sector, demonstrating how individual excellence is driving systemic improvement.
