youth of kashmir hero of kashmir

“I can’t trace the precise moment when my love for painting took flight,” muses Irtiqa Bazaz, a blossoming artist hailing from Karan Nagar in Srinagar. With conviction, she shares, “Art has always been woven into the fabric of my being, a medium to express my unfiltered emotions. Through the tapestry of my life, art has remained a constant thread.”

“The roots of this passion go back to my childhood spent with my art-loving grandfather,” she reminisces. “Those formative years nurtured my affinity for art.” A watershed memory surfaces – her school days when she participated in an inter-school painting competition and secured the coveted first place. “Alhamdulillah, that triumph ignited my artistic ardor.” A career crystallized; she embraced fine arts with a vision to master the domains of calligraphy and painting. Currently, she’s pursuing a degree in applied arts at the esteemed University of Kashmir.

Her parents, staunch pillars of support, encouraged her chosen path. Today, she stands as a professional painter, specializing in the realm of abstract art. “From an early age, Bazaz has been a contender in numerous national and international contests, propelled by her passion for art.”

Irtiqa Bazaz’s journey is punctuated with victories in various regional competitions. From the prestigious “1000 Women of Asia Awards” to the vibrant “ARTISTRY International Art Festival” in Jaipur back in 2018, where she earned a distinguished certificate of honor. The “Kashmir Young Achiever’s Award 2021” stands as a notable achievement, bestowed upon her by Hon’ble Lt. Governor Shri Manoj Sinha on a frosty December day in 2021, during the Chilai Kalan Winter Fest in Shopian, South Kashmir.

Among her laurels, she reigned supreme in the 2018 cultural event “CHOONA HAI KASHMIR,” and triumphed in the Booyn-Eishq art competition. A commendation followed in 2020 for her unwavering dedication to empowering women in society. The year 2021 saw her artwork attain distinction among the top 100 artists in the International Online Art Competition and Exhibition.

For Bazaz, calligraphy isn’t just an art form; it’s a spiritual conduit. “Whenever I transcribe a verse from the Quran onto canvas or paper, a tranquil harmony envelops me.” Srinagar, the heart of the Muslim-dominated Kashmir region, has a rich heritage of calligraphy, particularly Islamic calligraphy that graces shrines, mosques, tombstones, and cenotaphs.

A sage piece of advice emanates from her for the youth, “Craft a resolute will, chase your dreams with unflinching faith, and success shall be your companion.”

With bated breath, we await the chapters of your ongoing success story! Traverse this path with the knowledge that your brilliance shines brightly. Persevere, and may luck favor your journey
